My Foundation for a Religious Model of Creation

In my book I have a chapter called, "A Foundation for a Religious Model". The sub-title for the chapter is "Eternal Laws of God". Because of my contract with my publisher for the next 5 years, I am not able to say much about that chapter (the publisher has marketing rights to the book until 2012). However, I will give the conclusions of the chapter.

In that chapter I derive three "Laws" of God that give us a basis for the creation of a model of God's creation of the earth. These Laws are as follows.

  • The Law of Eternal Elements and Eternal Energy
  • The Law of Eternal Spirit Matter and Spirit Energy
  • The Law of Spirit Offspring of God
I will probably refer to these Laws from time to time as I discuss the parallels between the scientific and religious models of creation.

Mormon Belief: Spirit Offspring of God

Paul, while speaking to the people in Athens, told them they were the offspring of God and thus shouldn't worship statues made of gold, silver, or stone.

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. (Acts, 17:29)
Latter-day Saints believe that when the Savior taught us to pray to our Father-in-Heaven, he was referring to a literal relationship.
