Welcome!

There are currently conflicts between science and religion. However, I believe that truth can not contradict itself, and that eventually truth in science must agree with truth in religion. In the meantime I am interested in studying similarities or parallels between the scientific and religious viewpoints. Parallels do not prove the two viewpoints are correct. They only show that the viewpoints or paradigms have commonalities in certain aspects. In most cases, the commonalities are not tightly coupled, that is, they are not similar in their details but are similar only in a broad sense. If you'd like to know why I accept both paradigms, read this post.

In posting information from the scientific literature, I will give brief statements or quotations about an article and a link to the article. You will need to read the article to get the detailed information that brought the article to my attention.

I do not try to show parallels between science and all disciplines of religion. The field of religion is just too large for me to attempt that, and there are too many variations in religious concepts to try to find common threads among them much less between them and science. Instead, I take a narrow view of religion and in most cases I compare developments in science with teachings and/or practices of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly known as the LDS or the Mormon church. This site is not endorsed by the LDS Church, and my comments have not been reviewed or approved by any official of that church. Biblical quotations are from the King James Version (KJV).

My posts are of three types.

  • Posts giving basic Mormon beliefs as a background to my comments about parallelism have the prefix Mormon Belief: in the Subject.
  • Posts giving basic scientific information as a background to my comments have no prefix in the Subject. The Subject is the title of the article I'm referencing.
  • Posts giving my comments why I believe parallelism exists between science and religion have the prefix Parallel: in the Subject.
As explained above, in giving information from the scientific literature, I will give a brief statement or quotation about an article and a link to the article. I will not give detailed information from the article, and you will need to read the article to get the information that brought the article to my attention.

In concluding this welcome, I give the following caution: Be aware that the scientific articles linked in this blog give recent results of scientific research. The results, procedures, and so on of this research haven't necessarily been approved for use by the lay population. Before adopting the results of any research, you should consult with your doctor and/or other appropriate persons.

If you'd like to send me email, go to my Mormon site and get my email address. Thanks for stopping by my blog, and I hope you enjoy your visit.
